How do I install eSIM on my Fairphone device?
Installing an eSIM on your Fairphone device is straightforward if it supports eSIM. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you install and activate your eSIM:
1. Ensure Your Fairphone Supports eSIM
- Fairphone 4 and newer models support eSIM. If you’re using an older Fairphone model, it may not have eSIM functionality.
- Make sure your device is updated to the latest software version for the best compatibility.
2. Obtain Your eSIM Details
- You’ll need to have your eSIM QR code or activation code from your eSIM provider (like JetSIM, Airalo, or your mobile carrier).
3. Install the eSIM
Steps to Install:
- Open Settings:
- Go to the Settings app on your Fairphone device.
- Go to Network & Internet:
- Scroll down and tap on Network & Internet.
- Tap on Mobile Network:
- Select Mobile Network.
- Add an eSIM:
- Tap + Add Carrier or Add a Mobile Plan.
- You will see options to scan a QR code or enter an activation code manually.
- Scan the QR Code:
- If you have a QR code, use your camera to scan the code provided by your eSIM provider.
- If you don’t have a QR code, you can choose to Enter details manually, and input the activation code given by your eSIM provider.
- Complete the Installation:
- After scanning the QR code or entering the activation details, your Fairphone will download and install the eSIM profile. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
4. Activate the eSIM for Data and Calls
- Once the eSIM is installed, go back to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network.
- Select the newly added eSIM and toggle Mobile data ON for that eSIM.
- Set the eSIM as the preferred SIM for data, calls, and SMS if you want to use it as your primary line.
5. Enable Data Roaming (if needed)
- If you’re traveling internationally, ensure Data Roaming is turned ON to use data services abroad.
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network > Data Roaming and toggle it ON.
6. Switch Between SIMs (if using multiple SIMs)
- If you’re using both a physical SIM and an eSIM, you can manage them from the Mobile Network settings:
- Preferred SIM for data, calls, and messages: Choose which SIM (physical or eSIM) will handle each function.
- Toggle between SIMs as needed during your travels.
7. Monitor Data Usage
- Keep track of your eSIM data usage by going to Settings > Network & Internet > Data Usage to avoid exceeding your data limits.
Once these steps are completed, your eSIM will be installed and activated, and you can start using it for data, calls, and texts on your Fairphone device.
